Lelantos is revolutionizing the world of gas sensing by developing a new generation of IoT compatible gas sensors targeted to high value markets such as environmental and air quality monitoring, threat detection and industrial safety as well as medical diagnostics.
Current gas sensors are based on optical and resistive technologies and suffer from inherent weaknesses such bulky size, high power consumption, high cost and of lack of long term accuracy. As such they prohibit the effective monitoring in IoT oriented use cases that require large scale, pervasive sensing to be provided by autonomous, portable, battery operated sensors with wireless connectivity. The sensor industry is at a tipping point, from expensive, bulky, high power instruments to cheap, small and low power components.
To that point, Lelantos sensors based on MEMS resonator arrays integrated on conventional CMOS silicon microchips can achieve up to 1000 times more compact size, lower power consumption and lower cost while offering superior detection performance compared to currently utilized solutions. As a foundationally superior system, our approach eliminates the problems holding back widespread adoption of gas sensing and enables the long awaited disruption of the market by providing a true chemical sensor for the Internet-of-Things.
